The Radicalisation and Extremism Awareness Program (REAP) is a national program which has been designed to be completed by frontline staff working in Youth Justice and adult corrections, across both community and custodial environment. The REAP aims to provide staff with an awareness of extremism, violent extremism and terrorism and to support staff with understanding the warning signs of radicalisation and provide guidance on when to report information.
Objectives:
At the completion of the Radicalisation and Extremism Awareness Program, you will be able to:

- Understand the threat of terrorism and how it is part of the broader problem of violent extremism.
- Understand the role of the correctional environment in helping Australia respond to the problem of violent extremism, including the custodial, community corrections and youth justice contexts.
- Understand how some people radicalise towards violent extremism, sometimes while within the correctional environment.
- Recognise the potential warning signs of someone radicalising to violent extremism.
- Respond appropriately when dealing with offenders potentially involved in, or radicalising towards, violent extremism.
- Understand your role and responsibilities in reporting any concerning behaviours.
- Appreciate the importance of engaging with individuals in the correctional environment in a respectful and sensitive manner while remaining vigilant to signs of radicalisation to violent extremism.
